NORFOLK, Va. – October 20, 2016 — Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital held its 16th Annual “Rehab Reunion” today for former participants of the inpatient rehabilitation program. Lake Taylor nurses, therapists and other caregivers who often make lifetime bonds with their former patients also participated.
Approximately 400 recent rehab patients and family members returned to Lake Taylor to celebrate their rehabilitation progress and reconnect with other “graduates.” Each year, Lake Taylor discharges an average of 100 patients of all types per month to home or a lower level of care.
This annual event is much-anticipated for its comradery and celebration as former patients reminisce and share experiences about their successful return to their homes and communities following their stay at Lake Taylor. A BBQ lunch and entertainment was also provided to the attendees, courtesy of the hospital. Many attendees have suffered from neurological disorders or strokes, endured spinal cord injuries, paralysis or arthritis, recovered from various surgeries or other ailments, or have undergone hip and knee replacements.
Lake Taylor has graduated over 10,000 patients through its rehab program since 2005.
“When faced with making plans for post-operative rehabilitation for themselves or family, many people are unsure about the process,” said Thomas Orsini, president & CEO. “Patients often seek the opinions of those who have had similar procedures or they ask their doctors for recommendations about where to go for this care.”
“More and more people are requesting Lake Taylor for their restorative care because of our reputation as a Hampton Roads leader in transitional care,” Orsini said. “We help people move from the hospital back to their homes and independence.”
