(NORFOLK, Va. – April 12, 2023) – Debbie Schwartz has been named the new executive director for the Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital Foundation. In her new position, Schwartz will be responsible for implementing financial development plans, communicating with patients, families, individuals, groups, volunteer board of directors overseeing the stewardship of contributions and the Foundation’s charitable investments.
Schwartz comes on board at a critical time, as the Foundation has recently launched an $8 million capital campaign with the goal to fully endow Lake Taylor’s Macon F. Brock, Jr. Palliative Care Program.
A veteran communicator and fundraiser in the Hampton Roads market, Schwartz has more than 30 years of experience to bring to her new position, including marketing communications, public relations, development, and nonprofit advocacy. Before joining the Lake Taylor Foundation, Schwartz was the director of marketing and fundraising at Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia. Prior to that, she was director of public relations at DIA Advertising in Norfolk and led the marketing and development department of the Jewish Family Service of Tidewater. Her career also includes experience in journalism, marketing and PR consultancy, destination management, conference production, and special events.
Schwartz is a member of two national professional societies and their local chapters: the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Public Relations Society of America, and the Hampton Roads Gift Planning Council.
She lives in the Ghent area of Norfolk with her husband, Howard.
