Lake Taylor Auxiliary Reports Record Year of Support, Names New Leadership

(Norfolk, Va. — September 24, 2025) The Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital Auxiliary announced at September’s hospital’s board meeting the results of its 2024–25 fiscal year, reporting more than $71,000 in combined donations and fundraising revenues dedicated to enhancing the hospital experience for patients, residents, and staff.

The Auxiliary, comprised of non-paid volunteers coordinated through Lake Taylor’s Office of Volunteers, plays a key role in funding quality-of-life improvements beyond the hospital’s mission-critical healthcare services. Over the past year, the Auxiliary contributed $20,103 in direct donations to support resident programs and hospital needs, while generating an additional $51,289 through fundraisers such as the Auxiliary’s annual Fashion Show, Love Light Tree Dedication, and Tee-Off for Tots Golf Tournament.

“The Auxiliary is proof that compassion in action makes a lasting impact,” said Jennie Burge, newly elected Auxiliary President. “Whether it’s funding pediatric beds, sponsoring resident entertainment, or organizing community celebrations, our volunteers ensure Lake Taylor continues to feel like home for those we serve.”

The year also marked a leadership transition following the untimely passing of Auxiliary President David Wozniak in May. Wozniak’s tenure left a legacy of growth and innovation for the Auxiliary, which has since regrouped under the new Auxiliary leadership includes President Jennie Burge; Vice President LaVerne Wiggins Reed; Karen Rigney, Treasurer; and Jill Keifer, Secretary. The Executive Board will serve through June 2027.

For the 2025–26 fiscal year, the Auxiliary has identified more than $74,000 in planned expenditures, including five new pediatric beds (with support from the December Harley Ride for the Children), a new fish tank for the resident lobby, updated entertainment technology for the dining room, and an outdoor mural to brighten hospital grounds.

In addition to its fundraising initiatives, the Auxiliary will continue to host and support resident-centered events such as the Fall Festival, Christmas Party, Shamrock’s Fun Strut, and Yankee Doodle Dogs & Drinks. The Auxiliary is also actively seeking new volunteers and board members to expand its impact.

Upcoming signature events include:

  • 28th Annual Fashion Show – September 27, 2025
  • Love Light Tree Dedication Ceremony – December 18, 2025
  • 28th Annual Tee-Off for Tots Golf Tournament – June 4, 2026
