The Place For Children – Lake Taylor’s Pediatric Unit
Lake Taylor has been a part of a unique pediatric continuum in Hampton Roads and beyond for more than 30 years.
Patient profile
Long-term pediatric patients served at Lake Taylor receive treatment for multiple, complex medical conditions, unique physical challenges, and other special needs that require acute or specialized nursing care. Lake Taylor is the only Hampton Roads pediatric facility where respiratory therapy is available 24/7.
- Acute and sub-acute care for infants and youths needing dedicated, specialized nursing for ages 6 months to 21 years
- Local or distant family proximity
- Certain mobility challenges do require nurse evaluation, but each referral is reviewed to ensure every child’s needs can be met
Recent renovations
Four brightly colored and whimsically themed “care pods” decorated in a playful undersea design motif include six beds each and are appointed with advanced technology and custom furnishings. Upgraded amenities include specialized hospital bedding, improved wireless connectivity, and environmental features, including programmable digital lighting that complements a bank of west-facing windows that allow abundant amounts of soothing natural light throughout the day.
